Welcome to the Geelong Cats Sports Foundation website
Sport teaches us some of life’s most valuable lessons — teamwork, dedication, leadership — the will to be the best you can be. Since 1872 many great sporting careers have been launched at Kardinia Park — but even more important, many thousands of boys and girls have participated in a range of sporting activities that helped them stay fit, be part of a community and make friendships that last a lifetime. From Auskick to seniors’ swimming programs, Kardinia Park is important.
It’s a proud legacy — but one we cannot take for granted.
To ensure that Kardinia Park’s facilities continue to improve and expand, the Geelong Cats Sports Foundation was established in 2002.
Cricket, footy, netball, swimming — it’s all at Kardinia Park
Kardinia Park is the home for a number of Geelong sporting and recreation clubs and associations, including:
- The Geelong Cricket Club
- The Geelong Football Club
- Geelong Football Umpires League
- Geelong Netball Association
- Geelong Unity Netball Association
- Geelong Swimming Club
- St. Mary’s Football Club
What is the Geelong Cats Sports Foundation?
The Foundation was established to ensure the ongoing development of high standard facilities at Kardinia Park. It has a project registered with the Australian Sports Foundation and governed by an independent Board of Trustees, chaired by Helene Bender OAM.
Funds raised by the Foundation are invested. Only the interest is available for distribution as grants, ensuring that all contributions create a truly lasting legacy. The income earned from the Foundation’s investment is made available through a grant process which is open to all the Kardinia Park clubs. Since its establishment more than $250,000 has been allocated to the clubs.
